CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

Dear students,

At AMS, our objective is to prepare leaders who go beyond conventional management skills. Be it management or technology, our graduates are trained not only to be effective but to innovate. We seek students who thrive on change and who strive to drive it to business success. What better place to do this than at AMS, where new ways of thinks and doing things are central to the curriculum.

We recognize that choosing your Institution of higher learning is one of the most important decisions that you will make in your life.

Dr. B.C. Rath

At AMS, we are seeking bright, energetic men and women eager to accept the challenges of an academically rigorous, professionally enriching, and personally fulfilling learning program that encourages students to think in new and creative ways in the global marketplace. I know that in addition to academic excellence, you are also interested in having a fulfilling and enjoyable quality of life while on campus. I hope this information offers you not only academic details, but also a snapshot of a campus community which is professional, caring and exciting.

Pedagogic innovations based on commitment to simple but practical objectives, namely 'influencing practice' and 'promoting value-based growth', have found deep roots in our academic program. And, to our satisfaction, a few of these are now being emulated at other institutions. Recognizing the primary accountability of an adult student for learning, and being socially responsive, have been our beliefs, and are epitomized in the words of Einstein and Whitehead that invariably appear epigraphically in all our formal communications. The dominance of conventional classroom lecturing as a mode of teaching and learning management education has increasingly been questioned for its appropriateness. Hence it is no surprise that leading US business schools, in the recent past, are reported to have been pursuing alternative approaches of non-classroom education.

Currently, our focus is on an important unfinished agenda: an effective and symbiotic relationship between the Industry and the Institute. Development of Corporate Citizenship (DOCC), internship, industry-supported project work, and lecture series are several initiatives in operational zing the development of such a linkage. We, however, wish to go beyond, and are seeking a stronger and direct participation of the business community for whom we exist. We have several ideas that we propose to present to the business community. We believe that walls that currently exist in the society between organizations that serve each other are a hindrance to overall social performance. We are looking forward to a positive response from the business community to our programs and plans. Any guidance and suggestions towards this end would be most welcome.

At AMS, we believe in building strong futures for our students. I am confident that pursuing your higher education through AMS would be one of the most exciting and rewarding professional experiences of your life. I hope we shall meet in Bhubaneswar and look forward to welcoming you to AMS for this important stage in your education and career.

Yours Sincerely,

(Dr. B.C. Rath)
