NARAYAN MURTHY AND INFOSYS

On 2nd July, 1981 N.R. Narayan Murthy, along with his six software friends started a small IT Company, it was named as “INFOSYS CONSULTANT PVT. LTD.”. The founder N.R. Narayan Murthy was the Chairman of the Company. From these humble beginning this Czar of Indian Software Industry is responsible for creating and Leading INFOSYS and is presently the Country’s Second biggest Software exporter.

It was under guidance of Narayan Murthy that INFOSYS in 1999 reported annual revenue of $100 million and in 2004, it crossed the $ 1 billion in annual revenue mark. INFOSYS celebrated it’s 25th Year of existence with annual revenues in excess of $2 billion. Incidentally Infosys is the first Indian Company to get listed on NASDAQ.

Mr. Narayan Murthy is also the recipient of various awards like world Entrepreneur of the year in 2003.

Mr. N.R. Narayan Murthy, the Chief Mentor of INFOSYS steeped down from his executive post of Chairman of INFOSYS on the day of his 60th birthday on August 20. Though it is yet to be finalized who will take over the Chairmanship, it is Nandan Nilekani, another senior founder of the company will be leading INFOSYS.
